Categorize Your Depression

June 19th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Chris Glasspool There are many different types of depression and as such healthcare professionals refer to them in different ways. Seasonal affective disorder, clinical depression and bipolar depression are all commonly diagnosed forms of depression. What causes most people confusion is when depression overlaps with another illness or disorder such as drug abuse. Diagnosing someone with depression in these circumstances is that much harder because the illness can mimic or even mask the effects of depression. The following text details the common forms of depression. You will have no doubt heard the term major depression if you have suffered from depression or know someone that has. Major depression can start to show in cases where you have suffered some form of severe emotional trauma. Major changes in your life such as avoiding the gym at all costs when you used to be a regular user can be an indication that you are suffering from major depression. Another form of major depression is bipolar depression (also known as manic depressive illness). Bipolar depression is evident in people that are extremely happy one moment and horribly depressed the next. Scientists believe that this type of depression is caused by an imbalance in the brain. Because of this it can be treated with medication. Another common form of depression that women suffer from is postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is usually apparent after child birth and if its not treated can go on for weeks, months or even years. Healthcare professionals believe that women that suffer from postpartum depression have suffered from depression before. An extremely common form of depression is seasonal affective disorder. This is linked to the way people react to the amount of sunlight they receive each day and is treated with light therapy which involves special lamps. People that seem to be suffering from a constant case of mild depression may well be suffering from dysthymia. Those suffering with dysthymia may also suffer bouts of major depression that need to be treated with close medical monitoring and aggressive treatment. Another common form of depression in women is atypical depression. This form of depression is usually marked by experiencing things like panic attacks, sleep pattern disturbances and overheating. Someone with atypical depression will feel depressed, then feel better and then feel depressed again. This form of depression is very common in females younger years and if untreated can continue on into adulthood. A very serious form of depression is psychotic depression. Those that suffer from this form of depression will often hear voices in their heads as well as suffer visual delusions. Because of this type of behaviour people suffering from psychotic depression are at risk of harming themselves or others. They need to be given help to get treatment for their illness as they will not be able to think rationally. Psychotic depression strikes around 15% of major depression sufferers. Knowing which form of depression you or your loved ones may be suffering from is one of the best ways of getting treatment. Once you know the best treatment available you can start to battle whichever form of depression you or your loved ones have. Ten Reasons To Put Promotional Gifts In Your Marketing Budget

June 15th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Gareth Parkin You know how valuable promotional gifts can be in your companys marketing campaigns, but your boss needs a little convincing? Speak his language and hell listen. Here are ten ways that you can use promotional gifts to improve your companys bottom line. 1. Promotional gifts are a great way to increase brand awareness and get your company noticed. A branded gift or one imprinted with your companys slogan will keep your name in front of your customers eyes, which translates to more sales for your company. 2. Promotional giveaways and gifts leave a lasting impression on prospective customers. A stylish and useful gift with associated with your companys name is sure to be remembered when its time to do business. 3. You can double and even triple your trade show responses when you package your message as a useful, memorable promotional gift. In fact, if you pre-plan your strategy and send out a promotional gift before the trade show, youll get twice the targeted traffic to your booth. And that translates to more contacts and ultimately more sales. 4. Corporate and promotional gifts are an excellent way to secure dealer loyalty. If you sell your product through a network of distributors, promotional gifts are a great way to cement your relationship with your distributors and make sure that your company gets preferential billing when its time to make a sale. 5. A thank you gift to loyal customers is a great way to retain the customers that you already have. Make a point of acknowledging your return customers, and reminding them that you exist with promotional gifts that say We value your trade. 6. Put your name on everyones back or the top of their heads. T-shirts and hats inscribed with your companys logo are among the most popular and useful promotional gifts you can give away. Whether you use them in an employee incentive program or hand them out at a public event, youll be increasing your companys exposure to the world. 7. Energize your employees with promotional gifts as incentives. Employees live on their commission and pay, but they really thrive on recognition. Institute an employee incentive program with promotional gifts and watch their productivity shoot through the roof. 8. Bring old customers back to the fold with a targeted We miss your business campaign. If youve got customers who havent bought from you in a while, sending out a little token that says come back to us is a surefire way to remind them that youre a great company to do business with. 9. Increase your companys visibility. The little promotional gifts go a long, long way in ROI. A desk calendar with your companys name on it will put your name and number where it will be seen every day. Your name on the handy sticky note dispenser will remind them of your company whenever they see it. 10. Special events are more memorable when you include a takeaway promotional gift like a reusable canvas conference sack. Every time your gift is used, it will increase the good will that youve invested in. Should I Quit My Day Job?

June 7th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Bill Guerra This is a question that many new investors ask themselves I have asked myself this many times also. This of course must be answered individually, however below are some things to consider prior to taking that much desired step as an investor. My first year I used my job earnings to put money back in building my business. Prudent investors do not open a business without a cash flow coming in regularly, or 3-6 months reserves. Disclaimer: Steve Cook did, but most of us may not be the next Steve Cook of investing, shucks anyway! For the rest of us, this article may be of help. How do we know what a prudent reserve is? We have not run this type of business before, thus, costs are unknown! Well some of these expenses are: Car signs, gasoline, business cards, newspaper and Nifty Nickel ads, more gas, tires, lunches networking with investors, earnest monies, computers, printers, did I mention gas, desks, paper, ink, lock boxes, small tools, more ads, high speed cable, stamps, investor club fees, course fees, boot camp fees, copies, and bandit signs. Keeping the full time job helps pay for these unseen and unknown expenses for awhile. That is only the first year of business, starting the second year new expenses rear there ugly head. CPA, Attorney fees, bigger printers, the second computer so you can take your laptop to with you and comp properties on the spot, and if one crashes you are still functional. Now the long term investor will purchase computer programs, Microsoft Small Business package with Outlook Express, Excel, and Word these will make your business efficient thus saving your most precious commodity- your time. Virus protection is a must theres fifty bucks. No one can do what you do as good as you and thats find the deals. So better equipment and programs will help free you up to do what you do best. You say wait a minute, I am no computer guru neither was I thats why I contract one! Once you have computers you have computer problems! Another unseen but real expense. This is long term thinking. Hiring out services in the second year is a must for time management, but you can because now you are making money investing and have a job to pay for expenses. This exponentially increases your business success. It may help to, every 4 months cut one day out a week at a time from your job. Now I am making good money so its time tell the boss take that job and shove it” maybe, maybe not, February and March can be very slow months, but the bills continue to come in like clockwork. Then there are the expenses that being new you occur simply because you dont know any better and buy stuff you dont need or find out you can get it cheaper else where! Yes that was the voice of experience talking. LOL! Health insurance is an expense that is a must, no one expects a hospital visit but it can ruin your finances, so the long term investor will calculate that in your monthly expenses. Credit is always a excellent investment in our business. To keep good credit monthly bills must be paid on time. Which will not occur waiting for a deal to close that you did not expect to have liens on it, or a lien put on it even after you checked title, or any other hidden problems that we are not aware of, why because again you are a new investor. A year or two in the business will uncover a lot of these hidden expenses. Hopefully this has given you some ideals as to if its time to go full time or not. I have gotten conservative over the years; I have felt the pain of poor decision making, not fun. So now if I must err I will err on the side of safety. I have seen guys blow in and out of this business because they tried to go full time too quick. Its okay to still work until it is ridiculous to continue, oh and in case youre wonderingI still work two days a week, as of March 2004. Update: I have been a full time investor since January 2005 Bill Guerra (Bill in Vegas) is a full time real estate investor in Las Vegas. He has bird-dogged, wholesaled, rehabbed, and partnered on 110 houses in the past 26 months. He was a registered nurse until and went full time two years after he started in real estate investing. http://www.WillBuyAnyHouse.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bill_Guerra http://EzineArticles.com/?Should-I-Quit-My-Day-Job?&id=174538 credit-loan-fast-easy no credit check buy camcorder guaranteed online loans sba loans for realestate investers e s

Meeting Russian Women In Person

June 1st, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By John Kunkle At some point in time, you are going to have to get on that big bird and head to Russia. You can write letters until your correspondence file is thicker than War and Peace. And you can telephone her until you feel you are paying enough to single handedly bring MCI / World Com out of bankruptcy. And the result will be nil until you go to Russia. Why? Well, the first reason is that you cannot bring a woman to the U.S. under a fianc visa without meeting her first, and providing substantial proof of that meeting. Secondly, you have a better chance of winning the state lottery than she has a chance of getting a tourist visa to America. Unless she can provide overwhelming evidence that she will return to Russia, the U.S. Government will not issue her a tourist visa. Overwhelming evidence is evidence that she is leaving her children or substantial property in Russia, such that she would not risk losing them by not returning to Russia. Very few, if any, women you are likely to meet in Russia are going to qualify under this criterion. You will find unscrupulous tour agencies that say they will get her a tourist visa, but they are lying. There is no such shortcut. They will take your money and you will never hear from them again. The long and short of it is that YOU must go to Russia if you are to bring home the woman of your dreams. This is not as unpleasant as it may seem. You will have the opportunity to meet hundreds of beautiful women. You will find traveling to Russia an experience that you will not soon forget. I discuss the details of traveling to Russia in more detail below. However, there are two basic ways of traveling: by yourself and with a tour. I will discuss traveling by tour first. John has been married to a Russian women for over five years. He has travelled the path from finding her, to traveling to Russia, to bring his wife to America, and adjusting to married life. He will show you step by step how to do this yourself. http://www.russian-luv.com/meeting.html Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Kunkle http://EzineArticles.com/?Meeting-Russian-Women-In-Person&id=313234 bad credit tenant loan personal loans with low interest high interest bad credit private student loan hard money loan application

Total Body Cleansing Supports Detoxification and a Weight Loss Plan

May 29th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Cassandra Cox A question commonly asked by dieters is, What can I do to support my healthy weight? As a digestive care educator, my simple answer to that question is cleanse & detoxify! Simple dietary changes such as adding more fiber, and seasonal colon cleansing can help you promote regularity & associated weight loss. Colon cleansing is often the first thing we think about when we hear the words cleansing and detoxification. Everyday at work I speak with countless individuals who have reaped the benefits of undergoing even the simplest form of colon cleanse. Think of it this way, if your digestive system is a long tube that flows one-way, then we must prevent occasional constipation from stopping up the works and causing excess retention. Indeed, if your bowels are irregular, then where is all that undigested & constipated food going? So, improve digestion & eliminate constipation, and you will encourage your body to naturally shed excess weight. According to digestive expert & colon therapist, Brenda Watson, constipation can also lead to autointoxication, which her book Essential Cleansing for Perfect Health defines as poisoning, or the state of being poisoned, from toxic substances produced within the body. Brenda maintains that impaired digestion allows harmful microbes in the digestive tract to act on undigested food. She continues the argument by stating that faulty elimination can then allow these toxins to seep from the intestinal tract into the circulatory system, where they can cause numerous hazards to the body. In her newest book, The Fiber35 Diet, Ms Watson shares with us the detoxification factor. She reminds us that toxins can slow down our metabolism, decrease our ability to burn fat, and even slow down the time it takes to feel full. So, if our goal is to lose weight, then we are encouraged to cleanse and detoxify. To cleanse naturally, the colon is helped by our consumption of fiber, which promotes regularity and absorbs excess toxins, eliminating them in a healthy bowel movement. Sadly, few Americans are getting the quantity of fiber needed to promote a healthy colon. The American Dietetic Association recommends that adults consume 20-35 grams of fiber every day for optimal health. Most of us are lucky if we consume 12-15 grams of fiber in our average diet. Since our body is not getting the nutritional support it needs to successfully cleanse, then it is unable to eliminate and detoxify properly. Additionally, even if you consume a fairly healthy diet, our bodies are still being assaulted everyday by toxins and chemicals from the environment. Car exhaust, heavy metals, pesticides, off-gassing from carpets and plastics, even DDT from formerly contaminated soil are all serving to add to the toxic burden that is slowly poisoning our bodies. There are many cleansing products on the market. When purchasing a program, experts recommend choosing one that addresses your body as a system, because a healthy body will cleanse and detoxify utilizing the seven channels of elimination: liver, lungs, lymphatic system, kidneys, skin, blood, and bowel. You want to be sure that you are giving each organ the support it needs to do its job. Be sure to take in adequate fiber while cleansing. Youll also want to make sure your bowels are moving regularly. Conducting a periodic total body cleanse will help your body to relieve itself of the extra burden. Partner this with a healthy lifestyle, such as what goes hand in hand with weight management and you will have the greatest success. Intelligent Design Abstractly Considered for a Moment in Time

May 26th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Lance Winslow Does the notion of intelligent design make sense from a scientific standpoint? Does intelligent design makes sense from an observational standpoint? One thinker in an online think tank forum stated so. And so the other thinkers responded and considered some of what the other fellow think tanker had commented on. In one response a man posted this comment: The intelligent design; that is to say the DNA, reciprocating forces of nature, food chain sustainability and all the balancing forces we rely on for life, do appear to be purposeful. Indeed they are mandatory for our particular life form in the way we are currently set up to live within it. Although that does not automatically assume that there is a God or set of Gods, which is explained in religious doctrines that made it so. Order cannot exist without chaos and chaos would not be definable without order. And without choice, freedom and liberty, life would be unworthy of it all. God, Gods or no God. Indeed there are some pretty good observations that could suggest intelligent design, but it seems we are still without the ultimate proof in where is the murder weapon and who would do such a thing? And of course what motive would they have in designing such a system and why would they include these animals and god-forsaken humans and ruin what could have been a very nice almost perfect system? Consider this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. Wedding Invitations-Today’s Etiquette and Wording

May 17th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Jean Bachcroft The look of the wedding invitations you send will not only says a lot about you and your husband-to-be they will also convey a fair amount of information about your upcoming ceremony. So it is important to plan the type of wedding you will have before you make any decisions about your invitations. Based upon the quality of the paper stock, lettering, color and design you select, recipients are likely to make a determination about the formality or informality of the event, thus how they should dress. The color of your invitations may suggest the color scheme of your wedding. The quality of the paper may indicate how elaborate or simple you wedding will be. Choosing Invitations Stationery StoresMost brides still go to a stationery store to select invitations. Once there, you can look at brochures and browse through manufacturers catalogs. The catalogs include samples invitations so that you can feel the paper stock, see the true color of the paper, and compare different print options. Knowledgeable clerks will be on hand to help you pick out the desired color and weight of the paper as well as the ink, style of script, and wording for your invitations. The only thing remaining for you to do will be to provide the particulars. There are only a few large manufacturers and they dominate the wedding invitation industry. As a result, whichever stationery house you go to you are likely to see the exact same catalogs. Unlike private print shops, because these companies mass-produce their products they are able to offer you greater variety at a lower price. Online ShoppingThere is virtually nothing you cant buy on the Internet, including your gown (although I would not recommend an online purchase for your wedding dress, which must be properly sized and fitted). The Internet offers a huge number of sites selling both traditional and unique invitations. If you are bargain shopping for invitations, the Internet is definitely the place to go. Keep in mind that you are always taking a chance when you choose this method. There is nothing like being able to feel the quality of the paper or the raised lettering to ensure that you will get exactly what you want. However, knowing how different weights of papers feel and about the different methods of printing can help. Private PrintersBecause of the availability of mass producers and the tendency of many people to shop for bargains on the Internet, private shops are now hard to find. If you have your heart set on truly personalized invitations, look around. You are almost sure to find one somewhere. Different Printing Methods There are essentially four common methods of invitation printing, each with its own benefits. HandwrittenIf you are planning a small wedding (meaning 50 people or fewer), it is perfectly acceptable to hand write your invitations. Of course, this will be hard work, but you will save a lot of money. EngravedThis is the ultimate in invitation printing. With engraving, the printer stamps the back of the paper using metal plates. This raises the print up off of the paper so that you can actually feel the lettering. For most brides, engraved invitations are much to costly. ThermographyThis is the most common form of invitation printing. With this method, the ink is heated to create a raised-letter effect that is nearly indistinguishable from engraving. CalligraphyWe all recognize this as another name for fancy formal script. This method is becoming more popular every year, Many of the printing houses are now able to offer this print option as well, but it is not done by hand. Saying It with Words Today, there are so many different kinds of familiestraditional, blended, divorced, etc.that its no wonder brides are often concerned about how to word their invitations without breaching any rules of etiquette. The stationer you will likely be visiting soon will have more samples of wording than you will want to see. For now though, Ill let you glance at a few of the more commonly used forms. These all fall under the category “traditional.” (Brides parents are hosting) Mr. and Mrs. David Hennesse request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Miss Ellen Marie Hennesse to Mr. Mark Peter Bruster on Saturday, the ninth of June Two thousand and five at three oclock in the afternoon St. Marys Church Duluth, Minnesota (Both brides and grooms parents are hosting) Mr. And Mrs. David Hennesse and Mr. And Mrs. Clark Bruster request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children Ellen Marie Hennesse and Mark Peter Bruster on Saturday, the ninth of June Two thousand and five at three oclock in the afternoon St. Marys Church Duluth, Minnesota (When the bride and groom host the wedding) Miss Ellen Marie Hennesse and Mr. Mark Peter Bruster request the honor of your presence at their marriage on Saturday, the ninth of June Two thousand and five at three oclock in the afternoon St. Marys Church Duluth, Minnesota The old rule was that the word “honor” should always be spelled “honour.” This rule is no longer firmly held. However, you should always spell everything outnames, the date, the time and the location. There are definite rules regarding the use of initials. “Doctor” (medical only, otherwise the professional title is not used) is written in full, unless the name to follow is long. “Mr.” is never written “Mister,” but “Jr.” may also be written as “junior,” although the first is preferred. It is acceptable to use numbers when writing the address of the church or synagogue, but avoid doing so. Generally, the address (including the street name) of the location where the wedding will be held is omitted. You may want to include it if not doing so would be likely to cause your guest frustrationwhen, for example, you are getting married in a large city and guests would have to guess which of the several churches with the same name you mean. If you do include the address and you are using a formal style of wording, spell out numbers under 100. Never abbreviate words such as “Street,” “Avenue,” and “Road,” and do not include the zip code. Saving Time and Money If you are pressed for time, ask the stationer if you can have the envelopes early. This way, while you are waiting for your invitations to be printed you can address the envelopes. When it comes to deciding how many invitations to order, you should definitely order slightly more than you think you will need. Chances are you are going to need more than you thought. Its a lot more expensive to place a second order than it is to order extras. Signaling Criteria and a Marketing Mistake

May 14th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Craig Lutz-Priefert Heres a line from Law and Order, Criminal Intent that every marketer should memorize. DA Arthur Branch, about to sign an arrest warrant for a judge in a high-profile case: Its not enough to do good; you gotta be seen doing good. And thats the essence of signaling criteria. In his classic Competitive Advantage Michael Porter mentions two types of buyer criteria: use criteria = what the product does for the buyersignaling criteria = how the buyer thinks or feels about what the product does for the buyer Many marketers think their job ends at providing effective signaling criteria. We say: Hey, Ive told a great story, Ive produced a super TV spot, my click-through rates are fantasticIve done my job. And by one measure, you have. If you are hired to write a great ad and nothing else, then yes youve certainly done the client right. But if you own a small business, or if you are in charge of company-wide marketing, or if you own an agency that wants to keep an account for years, then you better quickly learn to pay attention to use criteria. Because, as Porter so accurately point out, a company can make an OK product and create superior marketing communications and best a company that turns out a superior product but fails to let the customer know how great the product really is. For a while. But eventually a competitor with so-so advertising but better products usually catches up with the advertising leader. The advertising message is forgotten, and the user is stuck with the product. And the product, unless it is really fantastic, doesnt speak for itself. And if theres a better competitive product out there, the customer is going to find it eventually. And Porter wrote this in the 80s, before instant internet product reviews were available. Whats the smart marketer to do? Keep signaling–after the sale. Craig Lutz-Priefert is President of Marketing Hawks, a firm providing essential marketing vision for small business. Marketing Hawks also provides expert sales presentation review at their VideoMyPitch website. Tips for Planning a Wedding on a Budget

May 9th, 2008 by marylindadoolittle

By Jennifer McCleary Weddings can be one of the most expensive things that you will ever experience. You want to justify spending every dollar because this is your dream day but that could leave starting your lives together pretty far behind! Theres the dress, and the reception hall, and the food, and the band, and the photographer, the florist, the cake, the party favors. The list goes on and on and on. You end up spending $5,000 on a dress you only where once, $8,000 on food you never get to eat, $1,500 on flowers that will just shrivel up and die, and $2,000 on a photographer that doesnt take the pictures that you want him to take. This sounds terrible, but we justify it by saying that we only get married once (hopefully). For some, myself included, they just cant afford to spend that kind of money. Well, there is hope. You can plan your dream wedding without spending an outrageous amount of money. I have done it and I will tell you how to too. There are lots of places that you can cut corners and your guests will never know. Follow the tips that I have listed below and you will be planning the wedding of your dreams without burning a humongous hole in your pocket! Tip #1: The Dress There are a lot of ways that you can save money on your dress and your bridesmaids dresses. First of all, if you have a close friend or relative, you could ask to borrow their dress. This can be very meaningful to you, and can be quite a compliment to the owner of the dress. You can also save money by shopping for a used dress at a consignment shop or online. If you are absolutely determined to have your own dress, shop at wedding shows or during sale times. A lot of wedding stores will run dress sales in the spring. Be a savvy shopper and you can save a bundle! You can also save a lot of money on your bridesmaids dresses by shopping at after prom sales. I have gotten beautiful dresses for less than $10 a piece! If you shop at a large department store it is usually no problem to find sizes and even if you find a dress that is slightly too large for one of your ladies, you can usually have a dress altered for around $25 and you have still only spent $35. If you really want to make things easy on yourself, just pick a color palette for your dresses and not a specific dress style. This way you have a lot more variety. You can also save on jewelry by making it yourself. You can find easy jewelry making kits at local craft stores. If you are short on time, or are just not crafty you can borrow jewelry as well. In my wedding, my sister wore some of my grandmothers jewelry. This was very meaningful for both of us, and it didnt cost a dime! Tip #2: The Flowers A lot of people spend $1,000s of dollars on their floral arrangements. They look beautiful for a couple of hours, but then there is nothing to remember them by. Most florists have very high quality silk flowers that are less expensive, and will last forever. You can also save even more money by making your centerpieces yourself with silk flowers from a craft store. My local craft store runs sales at least four times a year. Purchase silk flowers on sale and you will have huge savings! Tip #3: The Food It used to be standard that at wedding receptions there was always be a sit down meal. However, many people these days are not sticking to that tradition. You can save a lot of money by having a buffet of hot hoer derves and finger foods. This is much less expensive and then food is not wasted because the guests will determine their serving size. You can save even more money by having a desert only reception.
